The Climate
These two charts illustrate why Southend-
on-Sea is called ‘Sunny Southend’
Rainfall: Our region has an average of
less than 600mm of rain each year. Great
Wakering, a village just 4 miles east of
Southend has, over the years, repeatedly
been ‘The diest place in the U.K.’’
Temperature: This charts shows average
temperature values for the U.K. making
our region one of the warmest in the
country.
Being tucked away in the east
corner of the U.K, the clouds
have often dropped all their wet
stuff long before reaching
Southend, making our region the
DRIEST in England.
The Met Office, by their own
admission, says that U.K.
weather forecasting is virtually
impossible to predict and no
more so than in our part of the
world.
Let’s make it symbol!
Our SouthendWeather can really be
summed up with just four weather symbols.
Suncream time
Better wear
Shades!
Expect the
unexpected
Brollytime!
Sunny days are what
Southend is famous
for! Definitely a beach
or Adventure Island
day!
The sun will
be making
appearances!
These days are the
ones that even the
Met Office can’t
predict!
These days are more
indoor days like
Sea-Life Adventure and
Adventure Inside.

Welcome to our
Weather
Southend on Sea is quite unique with
it’s weather. In fact, Southend Seafront,
being situated on the Estuary, has a
micro-climate which can show dramatic
differences with the Kent coast and
even inland Essex.
Predicting the weather in this area can
be more ‘hit and miss’ than the rest of
the region and can often be quite
inaccurate, especially when the weather
is more localised.
Here at SouthendWeather.com, we will
help to clarify why our region has such
good weather and why, when it is
changeable, it’s difficult to forecast.
